Juan Antonio Ureña Salcedo is the new Jean Monnet chair at the University of Valencia, funded by the Erasmus + program of the European Union, 2020-2023, European banking Public Law, 620731-EPP-1-2020-1-ES -EPPJMO-CHAIR.
The project constitutes the natural evolution of the Jean Monnet Module European Banking Law directed by the same Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Valencia during the years 2017 to 2020, also financed by the Erasmus + program of the European Union.
The relevance and opportunity of the study of European banking public law is beyond doubt. The creation of the European Banking Union has meant the greatest institutional transformation since the constitution of the European Economic Community, requiring attention, explanation and dissemination, which will serve the actions provided for in this proposal. The professional market –both at the private legal and consultancy sector and at the public sector – needs of a constant and extraordinary supply of high-technical level knowledge teaching, which will be provided by this Jean Monnet Chair.
The main objectives of this Jean Monnet chair are (i) to contribute to excellence, and support in the study of European banking public law issues both to undergraduate and master students and to young teachers and researchers, (ii) to bring the academic and professional world closer to issues related to public banking law, (iii) to issue a periodic newsletter on European banking public law, (iv) to expand the research results obtained from the Jean Monnet European Banking Law module and disseminate these results through teaching activities, seminars, conferences, congresses and scientific publications and (v) to find synergies and jointly work on European banking public law with other JM Activtites and Centers. The impact of the project is focused on improving the offer in European studies and specifically in the European public banking regulation, of the University of Valencia but also of other Universities and research centers in compulsory training as in additional educational offer. In short, consolidate the institution’s leadership by offering highly specialized training in the field in line with existing training.
